This is the snacks item of Odissa called khasta or tana pakoda(course pakoda)i like this one so much… so when i came to Jakarta this time i brought the particular besan for this.
This besan is little course comparing to regular besan,if u dont have this not to worry u can prepare in home also,grind chandal to course powder and ur besan is ready for pakoda.
2 cups course besan
2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp redchilly powder
4 garlic cloves chopped
2 green chillies finely chopped
1 medium onion finely chopped
10curry leaves finely chopped
soda a pinch
salt to taste
coriander leaves finely chopped
Mix all ingredients adding little little water,the mixture should be semi thick as shown in picture.
Heat oil,make small small balls like pakoda,deep fry in medium heat till little crisp and golden brown color.
Serve hot with sauce.
